A background and a brief note on recent events at

Bangalore Motorcycle Club

The Bangalore Motorcycle Club was founded in 2011 by a group of individuals who met during rides organized by the Royal Enfield brand store in Bangalore. The idea was to create a community that would bring together riders, regardless of the brand of bike they rode. This ethos was reflected in the group's website, and there was no discussion or intention of making the club a profit-making "business." The efforts were shared equally among the members, and the focus was on building a community of riders who shared a passion for motorcycles.

Some passionate riders of the club became core members and helped organize rides, even taking care of them when the co-founders were unavailable. Despite Covid-19 challenges, the club has organized rides regularly, except during lockdowns. The dedication and commitment of these members have been instrumental in keeping the club going strong.

One of the co-founders also brought in a few of his friends into the core group, probably fearing losing control over the group.

In 2019, the core group had some issues when it became clear that a few rides (especially the long multi-day rides) were overpriced and expenses inflated. After a lot of infighting and arguments, one of the core members left the group, and the core group started keeping stricter tabs on accounting and spending. The group's primary objective remained to bring riders together at an affordable cost.

In Feb 2024, one of the co-founders revealed that he had registered the club as his “business” as early as 2015 and threatened legal action against anyone who organized rides under “his” registered club name or trademark.

This raises a few questions:

Over the years, riders have volunteered for duties like pilot and sweep during the rides. If he intended to conduct the rides for profit, what moral right did he have to expect these duties from the riders?

When this person had taken away a significant sum from the accounts of the club for his personal use and was confronted, why did he not reveal that he considered that his legal right and the fact that he had registered the club under his name?

Some of us core members (who were actually doing the work) and all the regular riders have had enough and have decided it's not worth our time and effort to tolerate or fight this nonsense.

All the regular riders have decided to part ways with what we built over the years. Let folks who think the name and logo define this club keep them.

We are off to a new beginning – a place where it will always be about the riders and making memories with our friends.

We are thankful to all those who supported us through the years.

All the riders have joined hands to start a new group of the riders, for the riders and by the riders, Feel free to join us by mailing us at info@taleson2wheels.com
